 We are just about to end this month of March in the year 2018 and enter into another new month of the year. Hope you have enjoyed all the beginning of this year. Possibly you have noticed or encountered some new changes in your life, particularly on your self-development. As for myself I can say I really enjoyed the beginning of this year. And of course I can see some improvements and new changes in my life. We are not sure what this coming year will bring about but we must always be prepared and be expectant too. It will be very important if we turn this year into a milestone year in your life. I do try my best to do more in a new year better than the previous one. This keeps me improving in my journey to success. Therefore, let talk about what we should do to be successful in 2018. Many success oriented authors in their books I have so far read usually put in this way to be successful you must do all what it takes to be successful. This means that you have to practice the principles of success. My advice to you is that no matter what you will go through while pursuing your success never just give up until you realize that you are wasting time. You should never go your own way or try to do shortcuts because success doesn’t work like that. Here are the principles you should put in practice every day to be successful;

(i) Put God first: perhaps you are a religious person and you are familiar with the saying seek me first and everything will be given to you. If you are a religious person don’t emphasis on prosperity too much but seek the kingdom of God first. Never forget to thank God for the blessing you receive and do all what it is taught in your religion. Don’t be selfish as it is taught in your religion.

 (ii) Be a master of your own time: time management is a necessity to be success in 2018. We are living in an era that consists of various activities. Sometimes we can’t shun away from these activities because they might be of great importance to us. Hence, sometimes we find ourselves with hectic schedules. And once you are good at managing time your chances of achieving great task will be likely inevitable no matter how your schedules maybe hectic.

 (iii) Be a good planner: planning is not just an easy thing. It requires great thinking, time and of course creative thinking. Planning for the future is great but for now I won’t touch on the reason why as we shall talk about it in the next point.

 (iv) Being resilient in the face adversity: it is a well-known fact that unease circumstances usually comes our way. Resilience is the art of knowing how to come out of some circumstances and continue living again like before. Let me tell you the importance of planning. There is a correlation between planning and resilience to succeed. When you have planned ahead as soon as you encounter an obstacle towards your success (adversity) in 2018.You will be able to figure it out as quickly as required. There is one comment I saw on social media last time, the media page was talking about the future Nigerian economy that I will go under recession. A proud Nigerian man and I assume he has at least some knowledge in the principles of success raised his comment that “it is not a big issue even if our economy go under recession, because we are so resilient and it bounce back” this triggered my mind to curiosity and that is why I carried a research on why resilience.

 (v) Figure out some negative habits: negative habits always plays a negative role in bringing as down. Sadly once you fail to do away with these habits as possible you shall be doomed for good. There are many negatives habits out there and raising them down here will take our time. Laziness is one of the examples of negative habits, don’t relax before you work as you can relax after you’ve worked meaning you are tired and you need to rest. Know how you spend your finances well and I suggest you read Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad Poor Dad books a wonderful American-Japanese financial educator.

 (vi) Create good relationships: relationships are importance in success. Relationships can be either a romantic intimate one or just a friendship one all that matters is the one that works. A good relationship with others helps you to move forward together. Where you get stuck others will help you and vice-versa. This can be confirmed with one of my favorite saying “no man is an island”. We need to be loyal in these relationships and we shouldn’t just create these relationship on the basis of succeeding that’s so dangerous.

 (vii) Read more books on success: here in Africa we are not much into the reading culture. I don’t know why it is like this despite being rich in cultural literature. There is a mocking say if you want to a story from an African put it in the book” and it is really embarrassing. The history of Africa is particularly based on its tradition, culture and values. All these are stories that we should put in many books so that the reading culture should be enhanced. We applaud the current existing works of other writers and authors these works correlate with success because they enable us to understand the society we are living in. It is not just in Africa but it is applicable to the whole world in particular.

(viii) Follow other successful people and get inspirational from them: earlier on I talking that to be successful you need to do all what it takes. Another favorite quote from American philosopher Zig Ziglar “success can be achieved even by a dummy as long as he does what it takes”. This is true, we have reached at an era where we are living in a digital world n so easy to access information you can research on the internet about these successful people if you can’t from your local area. I suggest you to look up Brian Tracy, Jack Canfield, Strive Masiyiwa and Tony Elumelu for a start. You will learn a lot of skills that will transform your life, you can follow me as well on social media and let us learn together on www.facebook.com/kalaluka.nasilele

 (ix) Think positive thoughts always: you would have heard people saying whatever enters into our minds can manifest and turn into a reality, others says as a man thinks so he is. Therefore, make sure you divert your thoughts to positive ones. Not just thinking positively but meditate on those thoughts. You must be doing exercise to relax your mind and this will enable you to think creatively. There are various exercises you can do and if possible do yoga, play football and running. To find help on positive thoughts there are many social media platforms that offer motivational quotes of positive thoughts and feel free to follow them, I am one of people running those platforms and if you wish to follow me you cafind me on www.twitter.com/KNasilele

 (x) Learn to do it yourself (DIY): when you open an English dictionary you will the abbreviations (DIY). When I was still a young boy of say 11 years those words triggered my mind up to now that they have become my favorite acronym. They do stand for Do It Yourself. I usually argue that the correct way to say is that Doing It for Yourself but I have no debate about it as I think that those who coined those abbreviation were following the correct rules of morphological and semantics rules. DIY is the ability to do certain things for yourself that you don’t need to take to other people to do for you. Although we leave in a world where by we need others but certain things we need to be doing for ourselves thus we save some finds that we would have paid for their service. You must not forget that in business money must circulate hence you don’t.t need to completely do it yourself buy empower others. In conclusion, here is my favorite quote from Winston Churchil "Success is not final; failure is not fatal. it is the ability to continue that counts. "therefore, you must make a right decision to be successful in 2018. Do as possible as you can and be patience enough because patience pays, there are no shortcuts it is just your time that comes, don’t relax and say my time haven’t yet come because that could be your time. Wishing you a successful year!!!

GOOD ATTITUDE

BY KALALUKA NASILELE

Work on your attitude,because good attitude is a key to good life as Jim Rohn quotes. Making others feeling good about themselves they will as well do so, living with people is an Art which you need to learn. If you have a bad attitude towards others, you are selfish, the law of reciprocity says if you make me feel good about my self i will also find a way to make you fell good about yourself.
